RADS was formed in 1934 and we stage three main productions a year in the Georgian Theatre Royal. Members also have the opportunity to participate in local One Act Play Festivals, typically in Richmond and Sedgefield, where they are adjudicated and can move on to other regional competitions throughout the country.
RADS enjoys the benefit of its own property, at 6-8 Castle Hill, which provides an excellent rehearsal space as well as storage space for sets, costumes and props. We endeavour to provide a wide range of theatre - from drama thrillers to musical plays. Members also meet on the second Monday of each month for social evenings, and time is also allocated for in-house theatre workshops and courses.
